A place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of the Rio Hardy as it quietly flows along the western edge of the Colorado River Delta, a "UNESCO Biosphere Reserve". Established as a tourist "Campo" (Spanish for "field") in 1941, The Ranch has been an oasis for vacation homeowners for over 80 years! After several years of extensive renovation of The Ranch common areas, we are now offering a small number of "restored" homes for sale to new members. To preserve the history and charm of this unique destination, no new homes are being added. In contrast to the high density and overcrowding that is so common today, we are determined to remain "underdeveloped".
Teeming with wildlife, the Rio Hardy is a stopover for migrating birds along the Pacific Flyway. Located just 58 km south of Mexicali and 1000 meters from the newly improved Mexico Highway 5, Rancho Mil is an easy one hour drive from the US Border.
This is a place of quiet solitude yet brimming with outdoor activities. Bird watching, touring kayaks & SUP's, desert hiking & ATV trails, or just kickback on your riverfront patio with a cold drink and a good book. It's YOUR choice. At night, the desert sky lights up with a million stars. Relax and reflect as the full moon rises across the river, or plan your trip to coincide with one of the annual meteor showers throughout the year.
There are currently a small number of Riverfront Vacation Homes available for sale at Rancho Mil. Starting at just $40,000usd, these homes can be customized to your personal preferences. There are no plans for additional homes, and the opportunities for membership are limited.
We also have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath guest house available for nightly rental, so contact us today to book your visit, and experience "Tranquility on the Rio Hardy"!
I first came to this "Campo" on the Rio Hardy in 1977. From the beginning I was captivated by the beauty and serenity. There was, and still is, a feeling of being a million miles away from "civilization". Utilizing my background in designing and building, I constructed a comfortable home, swimming pool, "ramada" and large garage at the river's edge (pictured at left). After 36 years as a member, I was given the opportunity to purchase the concession for the entire campo. I renamed it "RANCHO MIL" (Mil is Spanish for Thousand) and have lovingly restored it!
Currently there are eight homes being enjoyed by their owners. Our newest owners joined us recently, and several of us have been fortunate enough to have been vacationing here for 30+ years. The common thread amongst us is the love we have for our very special place!
